Update on bone marrow donation

So I got a call back after my blood test results came in. Turns out I am the patient's best match. What are the odds? LOL.

Well the patient's condition has changed and instead of doing bone marrow donation I am going to be doing PBSC donation where they hook you up to a machine that sucks out your blood and takes out the stuff that the patient needs and then puts it back in your other arm. Or it's SOMETHING like that anyway. After a chest xray and urine analysis and heart monitoring and a physical to make sure I am healthy enough to donate, I will be flying to Washington DC to do this procedure. In all honesty, I am NOT looking forward to it. BUT..I think that it will be good Karma. Sometimes doing something that you do not want to do can really really help someone else. I mean what if it was my son or my husband who was sick and the donor match backed out? That would be devistating.

I think I am just nervous. I will be flying for a VERY long time to get from Guam to DC..and I will be doing it by myself. I have only flown alone once. And I will be leaving my son alone with my husband for 8 days. I have never been away from my son for more than two days(once) since he was born. Not that my husband can't handle it, but still. Then of course there is the actual PROCEDURE LOL. I wish it could be done out here but I guess my slight inconveniance will be possibly life saving or at least life prolonging so I shouldn't complain.
