Update on Bone Marrow

I got a call last night to go over the details and medical info for my donation. I was told that there is actually a closer person who is a match and as long as they pass their physical they would like to have them do the donation instead of me because they are alot closer and can get their physicals done ASAP and be ready to donate on the 5th of August, where as I have to wait and get appointments and then wait for the results to be sent to them, then fly a million miles to get out there. So since I am sure they want to get this person their marrow asap they are going with the closer person. They are keeping me as a backup in case the person fails the physical, which is pretty unlikely. In a way, I am releived. I was having major anxiety about the whole thing. Not just the procedure itself but all the drs appointments and all the flying I would have to do to get out there.
